Visibility TypesAeroScout's Unified Asset Visibility (UAV) solution is the only platform able to provide true enterprise visibility over a single infrastructure, combining multiple types of visibility including RTLS, Active RFID, Passive RFID, sensors and telemetry. This means that a user can monitor all of the valuable data about their mobile assets from a single interface in real-time, and apply a consistent set of context-based rules, no matter what the source of that data might be. Below is a primer on the major types of visibility enabled by the AeroScout system: Real-Time Location System (RTLS): The AeroScout solution uses Wi-Fi RFID along with other technologies (such as UWB and GPS), and utilizes both Time of Arrival (TDOA) and Signal Strength (RSSI) algorithms to wirelessly determine the precise location of tags and Wi-Fi devices. This method ensures that location information will be accurate in all environments, both outdoors and indoors, and will not require a costly setup or upkeep process because it utilizes the standard wireless networks already installed by many organziations.
Presence: For environments where detecting the presence of an asset within a set area (or lack thereof) is critical, a single Access Point or receiver can detect tags and Wi-Fi devices. Examples include automated inventory counts, and sorting cars on a lot by the "zone" in which they are located.
Chokepoint Detection: By using AeroScout Exciters, customers can immediately detect a tag's passage through a defined area such as a gate or doorway, or distinguish between small, contrained areas such as workstations. This provides the user with instant knowledge that an asset has entered or exited an exact space, and can be used to trigger "events" such as alarms, tag behavior modification, or data retrieval.
Telemetry and Sensor data: In addition to location, AeroScout tags can also transmit valuable status information wirelessly, in the form of sensor and telemetry data. For example, tags with a built-in temperature sensor can communicate environmental temperature, or a tag can be connected to equipment/vehicles to communicate maintenance status, fuel level and other critical information. Passive RFID: Many enterprises wish to use RTLS alongside other auto-identification technologies such as Passive RFID. Through a partnership with Reva Systems, AeroScout's MobileView software can view, access and monitor Passive RFID data with the same visualization and context-based business rules that are used for all visibility data. |
